How can we help?

Quick answers to the most common questions. Can’t find yours? Write to us, and a real person will reply.

Does Poof upload my photos?

No. Poof analyzes your photos and videos on your iPhone using Apple’s on-device frameworks. Your library is never sent to us or anyone else. See the Privacy Policy for details.

I deleted photos but my storage didn’t go down

Deleted photos and videos go to the Recently Deleted album in the Photos app, where iOS keeps them for 30 days. To free the space right away, open Photos → Collections → Recently Deleted → Select → Delete All.

Can I get a deleted photo back?

Yes, within 30 days. Open Photos → Collections → Recently Deleted, select the photo and tap Recover.

How does Poof pick the best shot?

In each group of similar photos, Poof looks at sharpness, exposure and, when there are people in the shot, whether eyes are open and faces are in focus. It stars the best one, and you can pick a different photo with a tap. To decide between two shots, open them side by side with Compare.

Are my favorites safe?

Yes. Favorites are protected by default, so photos you marked as favorites are never pre-selected for deletion. You can change this in Poof → Settings.

Poof only sees some of my photos

You probably gave Poof access to selected photos only. Open iPhone Settings → Apps → Poof! → Photos and choose Full Access, then return to Poof.

Do compressed videos and optimized photos lose quality?

Poof re-encodes videos with HEVC and photos as HEIC, which keeps them looking the same at a fraction of the size. You see the estimated savings first, and the photo optimizer shows a before-and-after comparison. Dates, locations, favorites and albums are kept. Originals are removed only if you choose to.

Can I undo a contact merge?

Yes. Before every merge or delete, Poof saves the affected cards as a vCard backup on your iPhone. Restoring a backup in Poof → Contacts adds back the contacts that are missing.

How do I cancel my subscription?

Open Settings on your iPhone, tap your name, then Subscriptions. Choose Poof! and tap Cancel Subscription. Cancel at least 24 hours before the renewal date to avoid being charged. Deleting the app doesn’t cancel the subscription.

How do I restore my purchase on a new iPhone?

Sign in with the same Apple Account, open Poof → Settings and tap Restore Purchases.

How do I get a refund?

Payments are handled by Apple, so refunds are too. Go to reportaproblem.apple.com, sign in, choose the Poof! purchase and select “Request a refund”.

What happens to my Vault if I delete the app?

Its contents are deleted for good. Vault items are encrypted with a key that exists only on your iPhone, and they are not included in iCloud or device backups, so nobody can recover them, including us. Before deleting the app or switching phones, open the Vault and share or save anything you want to keep.

Is the password check safe?

Yes. Your password is hashed on your iPhone and only the first 5 characters of the hash are sent to a database of leaked passwords. The match happens on your device, so neither the database nor we ever see your password.
